WINTHER, LASTOWKA TAKE TITLES
AT 2012 RE/MAX WLDC
MESQUITE, NEVADA (October 25, 2012) - Ryan Winther and Eric Lastowka today reached the pinnacle of power golf by winning the 2012 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship Powered By Dick's Sporting Goods.
Winther, from Sacramento, CA, took the Open Division title with a 343 yard drive defeating Tim Burke of Washington, DC in a head-to-head showdown at Mesquite Sports and Event Complex.
Cool conditions and a steady head wind of 15-20 mph proved to be a great test for all of the finalists.
Winther earned $150,000 and bragging rights as the longest hitter on the planet. Tim Burke earned $70,000 for his efforts.
Earlier, Eric Lastowka, who hails from Hanover, MA, took the Senior Division title and its $50,000 first prize. Lastowka defeated Hall of Famer, Frank Miller of Laguna CA. 387-369.
